I am working on getting our class emails all set and updated.
I am at a district meeting all day Tuesday, so we will start our vocabulary work Wednesday.
Students will get their packets on Wednesday.  Here is  a preview of our work for the next two weeks:

Ecosystem Vocabulary

1. investigate- v. to study or research a subject to discover facts and information

2. variable- n.  a factor that is changeable

3. habitat- n. the natural home or environment of an animal, plant or other organism 

4. ecosystem- n. a community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.

5. ecologist- n. a person who studies the interactions of organisms and their environment

6. biology –n.  the study of living organisms   (biologist- a person who studies living organisms)

7. biotic- adj. living (things) 

8. abiotic- adj. non living (things)  (physical)

9. detritus- n. waste or debris

10. salinity- n.  saltiness

11. food web- n.  a system of interdependent food chains (transferring energy)

12. producer- n.  organisms that can produce their own food by photosynthesizing (plants and algae)

13. consumer-n. organisms that obtain food by eating other organisms

14. organism- an individual animal, plant or any life form

15.  kelp- n.  a large brown seaweed
