Your Homework this week is to continue to Research, Read, Paraphrase and Share what you have learned about your Making the World a Better Place Topic.

Please Continue to Research and Read your reputable sources about your topic.

Remember:  

1.     Preview resource first (read headings/subheadings, bold print, look at photos, maps and captions)

2.     Think about what you looked at

3.     Read

4.     Paraphrase (put the information into your own words, try to not look at the source while you do this)

5.     check information to ensure that your paraphrase was correct and remember to write down where the information came from

6.     Share with your family what you have learned

You may choose to include notes from books, magazines, websites, educational videos/documentaries.

Your notes may be on the back of this sheet or a separate page.

Questions to guide your (People) Research Notes:
Brainstorm a list of questions about this person. Here are a few samples to help get you started:

• Where was this person born? In what year? Where did this person grow up?  What does/did this person do for a living?
• What makes this person special or interesting or famous?
• What kind of effect did he or she have on the world? other people?
• What are the adjectives you would most use to describe the person? Why?
• What events shaped or changed this person's life?  Did he or she overcome obstacles? Take risks? Get lucky?
• How is the world be better because of this person? How and why?

Questions to guide your (issue) Research Notes:

Brainstorm a list of questions about your topic.  Here are a few to get you started:

-What is your topic?

-When and why did this issue begin? (Historical information?)

-Who are the important people involved in this? What are they doing? Why?

-Why does this issue matter? Why is it important?

-How has this issue impacted the world?

-What are the different perspectives about your topic?
