Thank you for a great year. I am really proud of the hard work and accomplishments of our kids this year. I appreciate all of the hard work and support that was put in to make everything we achieved possible. I hope that you will all have a great summer. I look forward to seeing everyone in August!
:) love,
Mrs. Sara
here is a poem that the class wrote in our last week of school in reflection of how the Native Americans were treated... pretty powerful words!
My body is sinking in
the mud because of my heavy heart
Everywhere I look I see sadness seeping through
The beautiful world around me
Fades into darkness
I miss how it used it be…
Before we lived in cabins…
That’s where my soul belongs
And they’re forcing us to leave
I hear the boots of the white men clicking on the ground
They steel our land… their rifles on our body
We didn’t have a chance to fight back
The rifles blow harder then the hurricane raging inside of
me
My anger flashed through my eyes as the soldiers came and
took me away
Fear over takes me afraid of what is around each corner
My face is burning
The pain is so much
I say my words I say them out loud
But no one seems to hear not even if I shout
I cough but no ones hears and they leave me there to sit and
die
I don’t know which way to go
I am stuck under water and I don’t know which way is up
All I see are people getting killed and loved ones crying
I feel the death in the air creeping through every crevice
in my home
Sometimes you can’t see something that’s in plain sight
You have the power…
To change
But you can’t control it
After fights and fights you finally notice it was worth
nothing
It was there all
along
The light blinding
You live and you learn
Now we know that we can control it.
NOW.
We are the ones who will make a difference.
