This Friday students will turn in  their book club book projects
(this might be something to check in with your child about their progress)

here is a copy of what they are to do:

Name __________________________

Book Title ______________________________
Author_____________________________

Describe the setting of your book (be sure to not only include where but also when…what was the era).
________________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________

What were some of the important events that took place in real life during that time period?
________________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________
How was the setting important to the characters?  to the story?
________________________________________________________________________________

What was something really important that your book club discussed?  Explain.

Design a Photo Album

Create a photo album of important people, places, events, objects or symbols from your novel.

Imagine that you have just taken a journey to the setting of their book.  You visited the places in the book, witnessed the events, and met the characters.  While there, you snapped pictures the entire time, to capture every detail.  You are going to choose 4 important photos.  These should show the most important aspects of your book.  You will draw 4 pictures and write a caption at least 3 sentences long for each explaining why the image is so important to the book.  Finally mount the photos and captions in a construction paper album.  Be sure to have a “cover” that has the book title, author and your name.

May 4th

Dear Room 12 families,

With state testing, homework is going to look a little different the next few weeks.  We will not be having vocabulary work during testing. So really the only homework will be continuing to read... journal jot... and any unfinished classwork. :)

This week:

Students have a geometry math test tomorrow, Tuesday
Thursday:  Science CST state test
Friday: Class rewards party... potluck and movie.

Check your email for link for food sign up (this is also shared with your student in their google docs)
